Sea Kayaking Nosy Be Tour - Catamaran based
Total Cost per person sharing: R17 200 – based on eight persons.
This tour is only available for 8 – 10 people.

A 40' Catamaran is your home for seven nights, offering you all the comforts of hot water showers, freshly made beds, and great food. She carries double-sit- on Tango kayaks made by Johan Loots of Paddleyak © and you will use these during the day to explore the remote islands of either the Radamas or the Mitsio Archipelagos. Once satisfied that you have seen what you want to see you will move with the boat to the next idyllic anchorage. Fishing, snorkelling and kayaking are all included in the price of this package as are all your meals, airport transfers and return flights ex Johannesburg.
THE RADAMAS :
Day 1:
Arrive at Nosy Be airport and transfer to Hell Ville Harbour where you board your catamaran. Enjoy dinner and a shower before getting a good night’s sleep..
Day 2:
Depart for the marine reserve of Tanikely. Try out your kayaks in the calm, clear waters surrounding this small island. You can easily paddle around it looking below you for turtles, corals and colourful fish. After your first circumnavigation leave your kayak on the beach and walk up to the old lighthouse looking out for the resident lemurs along the way. Paddle back to the boat and take a much needed dip with your goggles and fins. Snorkel among coral gardens, turtles and rays. Lunch on board and depart for Russian Bay. Approx 4hrs sailing to the mouth of bay.
Arrive in time for a sunset paddle and enjoy the peaceful overnight anchorage.
Day 3:
After breakfast depart for Kalakajoro, the first of the Radamas islands. Stop en route at the ‘Fifth Brother’ and kayak around enjoying the birdlife and sheer size of this limestone massif.
Lunch off ‘James Bond Island’ and snorkel or kayak to enjoy the marine life below. Look out for the pair of Malagasy Fish Eagles.
You will arrive at Kalakajoro in time for sundowners and dinner.
Day 4:
Enjoy an early morning paddle before breakfast and then move on to Antany Mora (1h30mins). Visit the old coconut plantation, have lunch with the island in view. Walk, swim, paddle and chill.
Day 5:
Perhaps another pre breakfast paddle before going to Nosy Valiha (1h30mins). This island is famous for its reef and the fishing. The inhabitants are particularly friendly. Walk in the rain forest. There is much exploring to do on your kayak and you could take a picnic with you. Overnight off Antany Mora.
Day 6:
An early morning start to Baramahamay. (6hrs). Another quiet anchorage up the river. Baramahamay is a boat building village and it is well worth your while paddling ashore and visiting. Take a walk and see how a simple life can still produce happiness. We support the school here through MadagasKids and encourage our clients to bring school books, stationery etc to donate to the school. Another good paddle is further up the river and into the mangrove for incredible bird life. Overnight safely up the river.
Day 7:
Depart after breakfast for Nosy Iranja (1hr) - two islands that become one at low tide. A 750m sandy spit joins them and makes for a great walk between two crystalline seas. Visit the village and climb to the lighthouse – built by the same company that built the Eiffel Tower. In the afternoon return to Nosy Be and spend your last night aboard.
Day 8:
Transfer from Hell Ville Port to Nosy Be airport for your flight back to Tana and Johannesburg.
THE MITSIOS :
Day 1:
Arrive at Nosy Be airport and transfer to Hell Ville Harbour where you board your catamaran. Enjoy dinner and a shower before getting a good night’s sleep..
Day 2:
Depart early and set off for the Mitsios via the four brothers and the organ pipes. Approximately six hours with fishing all the way. You can stop and paddle around one of the four brothers (The Jaw) and go for a quick snorkel/paddle at Tsarabanjina.
Overnight at the Grand Mitsio.
Day 3:
Visit the village. Depart for Ankarea (1hr). A basaltic island with white coral beaches. Paddle around the island, stopping occasionally to swim or snorkel. Return to Grand Mitsio for the night.
Day 4:
Spend another day exploring the islands by kayak and, if the conditions allow, you could get really up close to the Organ Pipes – a geological marvel. Overnight at Grand Mitsio.
Day 5:
Get going to have time on the way back to paddle to and around Nosy Fanihy – a sacred island with flying foxes and strange Fady. Lunch on the beach before departing to Nosy Sakatia. Anchor off Sakatia Lodge and take a paddle ashore for a sundowner.
Day 6:
An early start to reach Tanikely, the marine reserve, before the crowds. Spend the morning with turtles and rainbow coloured fish. Move on to Nosy Komba for the night and, if you fancy, a evening of local music and bars.
Day 7:
Before it gets too hot paddle ashore and walk up to the Nosy Komba Lemur Park for the “lemur on the shoulder experience”. Wander through the market and pick up a souvenir or two. Remember to bargain! It’s up anchor and back to Hell Ville where you pack away the kayaks and take an optional visit into town. An easy walk from the harbour into town to get a feel of “civilised” Madagascar.
Day 8:
An early morning transfer back to Nosy Be Airport for your flight, via Tana, to Johannesburg.

Total Costs include:
Return flights ex Jhb, estimated airport taxes, airport transfers, seven nights Full Board accommodation on board catamaran, all kayaking, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, fuel, and meals. A full crew of three to help you load and unload your kayaks and to prepare meals.
Scuba diving also available on this tour at an extra cost.
