Camping Accommodation
Day 1:
Saturday. Arrive in Nosy Be at 20h40 and transfer to the Providence Hotel, Hellville. Dinner is not provided as most people snack on the plane. However you could head off to a restaurant / bar for the evening. (Own cost)
Day 2:
Sunday. An early transfer to the port to board the dhow where you will have breakfast, a briefing and onto the kayaks to paddle to the tented camp in the Lokobe Reserve. (About 2hrs)
Day 3:
Monday. A leisurely start and paddle to Nosy Komba (about 1hr) for breakfast. Visit the local market, plenty of lemurs and a full breakfast at Rampasa or on the back up dhow, overlooking the sea. Then paddle to "Wendy's" for the night, a wonderful guest house overlooking a private beach. (About 1 ½ hrs).
Day 4:
Tuesday. Paddle across the channel to Ankify on the main land and then along the shoreline towards Mahalina. Board the dhow for lunch and motor to Mahalina camp.
Day 5:
Wednesday. Follow the coastline over the coral reefs to Ankazbiravina for lunch and great snorkelling. You take the dhow (or paddle) to the camp in Russian Bay for 2 nights.
Day 6:
Thursday. Either relax in camp or paddle to ‘James Bond’ Island for lunch and snorkelling then back to the camp in Russian Bay.
Day 7:
Friday. Dhow trip to Tanikely Marine Reserve for a full morning’s snorkelling in the marine reserve and lunch on the dhow. After lunch a lazy sail back to Lokobe for the last night (or a 2hr paddle for those who are already missing their kayak activity).
Day 8:
Saturday. An early start to Nosy Be airport and back to reality.
These are all wonderful places and the distances are easily manageable. At any stage one could get onto the dhow or choose to do a leg by dhow. We use C kayaks which are stable and easy to jump off for a bit of snorkelling on the way.
Included in the trip:
- Return flights ex Jhb, airport taxes and transfers
- All meals on the boat and in camp.
- A-frame bungalows with two beds OR two man tents when we camp.
- Fishing rods and reels but no lures.
- One bottle of drinking water per person per day.
Excluded:
- Meals not mentioned above.
- Accommodation not mentioned above.
- Drinks and tips.
- Snorkelling gear
